What We’re About
The Richard Sheltra Memorial Foundation, Inc. was founded to honor and remember Richard M. Sheltra. Richard, 20 years of age, died in the line of duty on April 30, 2016 as he fought a multi-alarm fire at a commercial retail store in Pineville, NC.
Richard, while alive, emphasized the importance of education and updated turnout gear. The foundation hopes to keep his memory alive and honor his wishes through providing gear and educational opportunities to First Responders.
The Richard Sheltra Memorial 10K, 5K, and 1-mile fun run is an annual running event that also honors the memory of Richard Sheltra.
All proceeds from this annual spring event benefits the "Richard Sheltra Memorial Foundation." This Foundation provides resources, gear, and scholarships to volunteer first responders so that they can serve our local communities with excellence.
The foundation relies on donations and the proceeds from this Annual Memorial event to fund their efforts.
